In response to the severe health and economic crisis caused by the pandemic, United by Schools decided to go further by opening an emergency food bank in Occitanie, near Nîmes and Montpellier.
This initiative aimed to support people excluded from traditional social assistance systems — including undocumented workers, undeclared laborers, large families, and students facing financial hardship.
A chain of solidarity quickly formed among volunteers, farmers, restaurateurs, and local shopkeepers, who donated their food supplies to help those in need.
At the height of the crisis, this food bank became an essential humanitarian hub for many families, symbolizing the association’s resilience and ability to adapt in times of emergency.
